Start the VM once more, and reconnect via RDP. Login as root with password opnsense. Then select option 1, to assign interfaces.

  • Configure VLANs: N
  • WAN interface: em0 (Check the MAC, this should be the NAT interface.)
  • LAN interface: em1 (enp2s0f0)
  • Optional interface: em2 (enp2s0f1)
  • Optional interface: em3 (vboxnet0)
  • Proceed? Y

Next, select option 2, to assign interface IPs.

  • LAN: em1
    • Configure via DHCP: N
    • Address: 10.0.0.1
    • Subnet: 24
    • Upstream Gateway: leave blank
    • WAN tracking? Y (I don’t know what this does.)
    • Enable DHCP: Y
    • Start address: 10.0.0.100
    • End address: 10.0.0.149
    • Revert to HTTP as web GUI protocol? Y

Continue selecting option 2 to configure the other two interfaces:

  • OPT: em2

    • Configure via DHCP: N
    • Address: 10.0.1.1
    • Subnet: 24
    • Upstream Gateway: leave blank
    • WAN tracking: Y
    • Enable DHCP: Y
    • Start address: 10.0.1.100
    • End address: 10.0.1.149
  • OPT: em3

    • Configure via DHCP: N
    • Address: 10.1.1.1
    • Subnet: 24
    • Upstream Gateway: leave blank
    • WAN tracking: Y
    • Enable DHCP: Y
    • Start address: 10.1.1.200
    • End address: 10.1.1.249
  • WAN: em0

    • DHCP: Y
    • IPv6 DHCP: Y

Once all of this is complete, instruct the system to shut down, then take a snapshot. Call it “Interfaces assigned.” Then, spin the system back up.
